Top 10 Best-Selling Cars in the US in the First Half of 2023

Similar to previous years, in the first half of 2023, the majority of the best-selling car models in the US market are still pickup trucks and 5-seat Crossovers, representing American and Japanese car brands. In the top 10 list of best-selling cars, there is only one sedan that made it.

The list of the top 10 best-selling cars in the US market in the first half of 2023 has not undergone significant changes. Increasing production to meet customer demand after addressing supply chain issues and stabilizing semiconductor supply has contributed to the growth of the US car market despite the impact of the economic recession. Brands like Ford, GM, Honda, etc., have all experienced double-digit growth rates in car sales. The list of the top 10 cars remains relatively stable, indicating that the car consumption trend among US citizens remains consistent. Pickup trucks and Crossovers are still the preferred choices for American consumers. Below is detailed information about the top 10 best-selling cars in the US in the first half of 2023:


1. Ford F-Series: 382,893 units


The Ford F-Series continues to hold the top spot with 382,893 units sold in the first half of 2023. This represents a 28% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, a significant number of customers opted for the electric F-150 Lightning variant.


2. Chevrolet Silverado: 264,070 units




The Chevrolet Silverado maintains its second position with 264,070 units sold, showing improvement compared to the same period in the previous year.


3. RAM Pickup: 223,049 units



The RAM Pickup occupies the third position with 223,049 units sold in the US in the first half of 2023, demonstrating the continued popularity of pickup trucks among American car consumers. RAM's sales decreased by 9% compared to 2022, resulting in a loss of the second position to its competitor, the Chevrolet Silverado.


4. Tesla Model Y: 190,500 units




The Tesla Model Y surpasses the Model 3 to become the most popular Tesla model in the US, with 190,500 units sold in the first half of 2023. This model ranks behind only the top-selling pickup trucks in the market.


5. Toyota RAV4: 187,017 units



The Toyota RAV4, the best-selling 5-seat Crossover in the US the previous year, records sales of 187,017 units in the first half of 2023, a 7% decrease compared to the same period last year, allowing the electric Tesla Model Y to surpass it.


6. Honda CR-V: 163,697 units



The sales of the Honda CR-V increased by 40% compared to the previous year, but it still falls behind the Toyota RAV4 with a significant difference in sales.


7. Toyota Camry: 150,742 units


The Toyota Camry, the only sedan on the list, occupies the 7th position. Despite the overwhelming preference for Crossovers and pickup trucks in the US market, the Toyota Camry remains attractive with 150,742 units sold in the first half of 2023.


8. Nissan Rogue: 147,745 units


The sales of the Nissan Rogue experienced a substantial jump of 69% compared to the previous year, reaching 147,745 units. However, Nissan has discontinued the production of the Rogue Sport variant.


9. GMC Sierra: 143,008 units


Ranked 9th, the GMC Sierra, closely related to the Chevrolet Silverado, achieved sales of 143,008 units, marking a 20% increase compared to the first half of 2022.


10 Jeep Grand Cherokee: 124,956 units


The sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee decreased by 7% compared to the previous year, but it still managed to secure a position within the top 10 best-selling cars in the US in the first half of 2023 with 124,956 units sold.
